What is Career Transitions Coaching?

Career transition coaching helps you to clarify your next chapter, align decisions with your values and strengths, and move from uncertainty to actionable momentum. Through focused assessments, targeted skill and network strategies, and short experiments, we identify high-leverage steps to land roles that fit your goals.

What do will be covered in this program?

Building a foundation for your transition

We will set goals by understanding motivations for the transition and mapping where you are currently in terms of skills, strengths and experiences. This forms the basis for our journey contract.

Mapping possibilities

Through the coaching process, we start mapping out what are the different options available for a career transition, whether it is a new direction or ways to evolve on your current trajectory.  From this process, we will prioritise 2–3 promising paths to test.

Gap analysis

Following the mapping of possibilities, we do a deep dive into where you currently are relative to your desired destination. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Audit current skills against target roles and identify high-impact gaps.
  • Create a targeted learning plan (micro-skills, credentials, projects).
  • Plan quick evidence-building actions (portfolio pieces, volunteer projects).

Explore your network

We will look at available and unexplored options for expanding on your network to explore this new direction and learn from those in the space.

In particular, we will schedule initial outreach and set measurable networking goals.

Career transition roadmap

We work on finalising your roadmap for your transition, looking at ongoing support: accountability structure, resources, and next check-ins.

Career experiments 

We will cover the following:

  • Identify and design experiments: scope, method (informational interviews, freelance trial, project, short course, shadowing), and deliverables.
  • Identify required resources, key contacts, and any skill or access gaps to address before starting.
  • Set a timeline and milestones (timebox the test, checkpoints for early learning).
  • Anticipate risks and failure modes, and agree on contingency moves or safe exits.
  • Plan how to capture and reflect on learning (debrief questions, evidence to collect) and decide next steps based on outcomes.
